Now’s the time to start your vegetable garden. Bib & Tucker’s general manager Merete has been busy in the kitchen and garden over the last few weeks, and has inspired us to grow our own vegetables from scraps after she recently planted carrots from carrot heads. Not only does this reduce food waste and save money, but starting your own vegetable garden is easier than you think.

Merete recommends this article (below) by Gardening Soul, which lists 20 vegetables and herbs that can be grown indoors using parts of the product you would normally throw away. Simply leave the recommended vegetable cut in a dish (with an inch of water) until they sprout and you’re set. Vegetables include romaine lettuce, garlic sprouts, carrots, turnips, sweet potatoes, ginger, potatoes, celery, tomatoes, cabbage and avocado. Herbs include, rosemary, mint and basil.
